Wheel Alignment
If your car pulls to one side, the steering wheel sits off center, or your tires are wearing unevenly, the alignment is the first thing to check. Book a four-wheel alignment with Glenn Dale Tire & Auto. Most alignments take 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the condition of your vehicle.

How Wheel Alignment Works
An alignment adjusts the angles of your wheels back to the settings the manufacturer specifies. The three main angles are toe, camber and caster. Toe is whether the fronts of the tires point slightly in or out. Camber is whether the top of the tire leans in or out. Caster is the tilt of the steering axis, which affects how the wheel returns to center after a turn.
The technician measures all four wheels against the specification, then adjusts the angles that are out. Before adjusting, they look over the steering and suspension parts. A worn tie rod, ball joint or control arm can stop the car from holding an alignment, so you hear about that first.
Signs You Need an Alignment
- The car pulls to one side on a straight, flat road.
- The steering wheel is off center when you drive straight.
- Your tires are wearing more on the inside or outside edge.
- You hit a pothole or curb hard and the car feels different since.
- You just had new tires or suspension work done.
Why Alignment Matters
Tires roll on these angles every mile. A small misalignment shows up as uneven wear, and a tire that wears unevenly needs replacing sooner. Alignment also affects how the car tracks and how the steering feels, so a correct alignment is part of a car that drives straight and stops predictably.
New tires are a good moment to check the alignment. If the angles are off, a fresh set can start wearing unevenly right away.
